Favorite Dog Breeds

Yet another post I thought of tomorrow and just something random I wanted to share. When people find out I love dogs they often ask this so I've thought about it a lot. I decided to do it by the AKC grouping (this way I can share about more different breeds).

Sporting
I have to say laborador retriever because I've had three through my house. Actually I've loved black labs (in particular) since I was pretty young. Someone on my dad's side of the family (who we visited every thanksgiving) had a big, sweet, black lab named Duke. He was one of the first dogs I fell in love with and ever since I met him labs have held a special place in my heart.
Francique, my first black lab (guide dog puppy in training) at nine months old.

Hound
I'm going to go with a beagle. They are just soooo cute! XD I don't think I've met any for more than a few seconds but they are gorgeous.

Working
This one was a hard choice. I've known several really cool dogs who belong in this group but I'm going to go with the Siberian husky. Siberian huskies are so pretty and they have a really cool history and a really cool job.

Terrier
Mwahaha I don't really like small dogs, terriers in particular so this one gave me a bit of trouble until I remembered Staffordshire Bull Terriers! American Pit Bull terriers (who are derived from Staffies) aren't actually recognized by the AKC but I think this guy pictured below looks more like a Staffy :)
One of the dogs at the shelter I volunteer at in college.

Toy
I've known several cool dogs from this group as well (even though they are small) but I will choose a maltese as my favorite. One of the kids in my neighborhood before I moved to WA had a maltese named Candy. Candy was super cute and friendly. The one catch is you have to cut your maltese's fur because I don't like them with long fur XD

Non-Sporting
This one was easy. Even though my dog is half American Eskimo Dog I'm still going to say a Dalmatian is my favorite! Who doesn't love those spots? I met a wonderful Dalmatian who was deaf (over breeding means this is a big problem for the breed), and she had a mickey mouse spot!

Herding
I saved the best group for last. Herding dogs are just my favorite all around group for some reason. I LOVE Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Corgis (Cardigan Welsh and Pembroke Welsh), Collies, German Shepherds, and Shetland Sheepdogs! But my favorite is (of course) Border Collies! They are my favorite all around breed and look cutest in red and white in my opinion.
