So I really do my best serious thinking/writing at night, this blog was what I fell asleep thinking about the past two nights.
I was thinking about labels. One of my friends recently wrote a blog about how she didn't find people in Portland "Weird". Now one of the sayings in Portland is "Keep Portland Weird" This leads me to believe that they like being labeled as such, at least as a broad group. Personally I think weird and different and unique are fairly synonymous so I would consider myself and just about everyone I know weird. I also refuse to believe a "normal person" exists, we all have our strange quirks.
Then I thought of other labels, like being labeled as a member of a group. So I wanted to list off things I am glad to be labeled as. (In no real order)
1) A Christian - This is a fairly recent "label" I can have put upon me but it's one that has made a huge impact on my life =)
2) A Girl Scout - I read the Girl Scouts of America blog sometimes and when I see some of the articles written about what girls across the country are doing to lend a hand I am proud that I can be related to them.
3) A Bandie (band geek, whatever)- I love playing in band, it's been a part of my life since 6th grade and I plan on continuing to do it for at least a few more years.
4) A clarinetist in the CMB - Yeah, I've met many people who say I'm the only person they know in the Cougar Marching Band so I'm happy to REPRESENT! Also, the clarinetists are a really cool group of people!
5) A volunteer at The Whitman County Humane Society and Orphan Acres- These two organizations give homes to animals who otherwise wouldn't have one. I am happy to help them out when I have free time.
6) A graduate of Kentlake High School - There was an incident in the news last week that brought a lot of bad publicity to my old high school. This also led to many students saying things like they wish they went somewhere else and that there is nothing good about KL. Personally I didn't love high school (school just isn't my thing) but there were good parts about it and experiences I had there that I wouldn't have had other places. There are many amazing teachers at KL and I made lots of friends there that I plan on keeping in touch with for many years to come
7) A cougar! - Haha, yes I am dating a younger guy but that's not how I meant it. I am glad that I made the choice to come to WSU! I have had a few classes and teachers that I really liked. The food is ok, dorms are fun, and I've made many great friends. Overall my experience here has been wonderful.
8) A daughter of my parents - I love my parents! They are great people, they do what they can to make my life as good as it can be. When people say, "Oh, you're Libby's daughter" at Girl Scout events I am proud to say, "Yes I am!"
9) A sister - My siblings are so cool! (Even if Walt may get taller than me) They are also great people and I love them a lot!
There are probably more that I'm forgetting or just aren't as big but 9 is my favorite nuber so I'll stop there =D
